Planting time

It's the time of year that we love in AZ. While most of the country is preparing for cold weather, we are shopping for plants and flowers and enjoying outdoor living once again. Last weekend was spent trimming and planting. One more monsoon storm roared through last week and the yard was a mess. The temps are starting to fall and soon the 90+ degrees will be behind us. The old galvanized tub holds some chives, parsley, sweet cherry tomatoes, and marigolds for color.
The patio is my favorite "room" of our house. We literally spend most of our time out here. I love Boston ferns, so I hope these three will thrive. I used to have a huge one inside, but they can be so messy. As usual, I planted red geraniums. They are so easy and kind of my thing. If you look close at the ruby red grapefruit tree, you can see lots of fruit. It's going to be a great crop this year. If you get sick of winter...come for a visit.
This is what I came upon when I came in from taking pictures of outside. Mr. HB must think he's a cat. Lately he's been sleeping on the top edge of the sofa. It is sort of soft and squishy, but what a nut! He is a never ending source of entertainment.

As a sister Arizonan I can say that I too am happy with the days becoming cooler. I miss sitting out and stitching. We will be replacing what plants we lost to the hot days of summer.....I am glad I stopped by to visit.

Wow, it must be hot in fall if you can grow tomatoes (read this word as tom-are-toes cos that's how I'm saying it!). I can't get them to grow in summer over here.

I love your patio, it looks so inviting!

HB's got the right idea- snoozing on the sofa!

How adorable Mr. HB is. And your yard is so inviting! One of these days the doorbell will ring, and it will be all of us, holding our stitching, ready to hang out!

Awww, Mr HB is very cute! He has cat-ish tendencies does he? My Julius has dog-ish tendencies (love chancing after paper balls)! Pets are wonderful!

Wow, you're actually coming to the comfy season! Enjoy lounging in your outdoor room!

Love your patio. I love this time of year when there's finally a break in the heat and we can enjoy being outdoors again.

My Polly loves laying on the back of the sofa and looking out the window.

Whiner used to sleep on the top back of the sofa too. It was funny to watch him. You have such a lovely patio and yard. I love the bucket with all the herbs.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your beautiful patio. That was intersting to read about this being your outside planting time. As a person that lives in the midwest, we are enjoying the changing leaves on the trees and the end of our outside plants... I'd love to come visit once the snow and wind are blowing here...lol!!

Our worlds really are opposite, Tanya. Our flower season is winding down and yours is just getting started! Funny. Love the patio ... it's gorgeous. Definitely the place to be right now.

And Mr. HB ... even in his sleep, he's on guard duty. LOL What a guy.
