A Sweeter Love

is finally framed. I felt that it needed a simple frame because it is very colorful. I mentioned in a previous post that I made many changes. I omitted a large over one swan and switched out several colors. It really is a very pretty sampler.

A small sampling

of my current work in progress, #17 New England Schoolgirl Sampler by Theron Traditions. It has been in my stash for a very long time. I've picked it out to start many times, but always went on to something else. It has several stitches besides cross like Queen Stitch, Long Arm Cross, Rice Stitch, and Palestrina Knot. I like doing the Queen Stitch, but we'll see on the others. It also has quite a lot of over one. I'm using a 36ct. dirty linen. It seems really big to me since I normally prefer 40ct.

Long forgotten

Years ago, I drove past this old grey stone schoolhouse near Elmira, Idaho. I had to pull over and take a picture. It was for sale, along with a small house next door that was more than likely for the teacher. I instantly fell in love with it. Wouldn't it have made an awesome antique or needlework shop? It looked so sad sitting there abandoned. I hope someone bought it, spruced it up a bit, and is now using it for something . I'd sure hate to think that it was demolished to make way for something modern. I don't know what draws me to these old buildings. It must be the remembrance of a simpler time.

I'm up and running

with my first post for the newly created The Scarlett House. Thanks for stopping by. I've been blogging for awhile over at Road trip with Ruby and I decided I needed to take on another one. Why, you might ask? Well, it's simple, really. While I truly adore my needlework, my home, etc... I also love all types of mixed media art. Whether it be card making, scrap booking, stamping, collage making, I crave it all. It's a little like the old song "torn between two lovers".
So, here you'll find one part of me, and the other part can be found over there. It's my way of separating the two. By the way, in case you haven't figured it out, Ruby and Scarlett are my beloved Bostons.
