Let me begin by apologizing (ONCE AGAIN) for being such a bad blogger. I try, I really do. My TSH Face Book page gets updated more frequently, so check it out.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I spotted (pun intended) this linen at the Attic one Sampler Sunday. I couldn't resist designing something for it. I've always been crazy for polka dots, and these are <span style="color: #cc0000;">RED</span>! The design, called Polka Dots and Alphabets, was made into a stitching bag by Faye Riggsbee (Carolina Stitcher). Please contact her for details if interested.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I opted to use real antique buttons and Weeks Dye Works wool on the model, but I've charted the buttons and wool tongues, so if you'd rather stitch them, you can. The photo below shows the stitched version. No groaning about the over one, please! It's not bad on 32ct.</div>

I had fun finishing the accompanying pieces. I love the simplicity of the safety pin. The measuring twill tape was found at a local fabric store. I've seen it online at Etsy, and at quilt and scrapbooking shops. Charts are being shipped to shops and distributors.</div>

to share a peek at my offering for the exclusive club, <em>A Colonial Gathering</em>, that is being hosted by Dyeing to Stitch. Paulette Stewart from Plum Street Samplers and I each designed two projects, with a collaboration for the fifth one. Each kit will include everything needed to complete the projects. There's still time to sign up...go to <a href="http://dyeing2stitch.com/"><span style="color: #cc0000;">dyeing2stitch.com</span></a> , and click on the link <em>2014 A colonial Gathering Club</em> for the details.</div>

So, my good friend recently chastised me for not updating my blog in awhile. This is the same friend who doesn't blog AT ALL, although she is very creative and would make a great blogger. Obviously, she doesn't have<em> time</em> to share<em> her</em> ideas, creativity, and life in general with us, but thinks that I should. I will NOT mention names, but trust me, she is extremely interesting and fun. Anyhoo, she made me feel guilty, so here goes. When we left off, I was still sharing photos from my trip, so I'll continue. The highlight for me was Fiordland National Park. It was pure heaven. Here we are entering one of the sounds. I can't describe the experience. It was just incredible to be there. Such untouched beauty!</div>

The water was smooth as glass. I am a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies, and I kept imagining different scenes that were actually filmed in New Zealand. I never did see Frodo, an elf, a hobbit, or a dwarf though.</div>

Hmmmm, Melbourne. I'll try not to be too hard on Melbourne, but good golly it was blistering there. We visited during their summer, granted. And, I like it hot, tolerate the heat well, and hate being cold for even 5 minutes, and still I thought I would DIE. It was so incredibly hot and humid the day we docked with record breaking temps. They also have flies, called bush flies which are huge, and beyond annoying.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

It was a nice city, the people were gracious and friendly. The shopping was great, everything was very nice. It was just hot!</div>

Ahhhh, Sydney. What an absolutely beautiful city! The Opera House in Sydney Harbor is stunning! We unfortunately had to head to the airport after docking, so didn't have time to explore. I'll just have to go back sometime.<br />

But, as disappointing as that was, I was very excited to meet these two! My sweet friends, Sandra and Suzanne drove down from the mountains to meet me at the airport. It was beyond wonderful to meet them in person. I think Suzanne's blog was one of the first ones that I started reading back in the day. And Sandra is just the most amazing stitcher ever. We both have a love of sheep and samplers. Nothing more is needed to form a great friendship, right? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They surprised me with goodies, lots and lots of goodies, and I was extremely touched by the stitched pieces. I truly love homemade gifts and things from the heart, and that they both stitched something for me was just so sweet.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a sampling of what I was gifted with. Talk about a welcoming committee! What you don't see is all the junk food that Sandra's sweet husband took the time to send home with me. They wanted me to sample some Australian candy, and I sure did. It was a long flight home, remember? I think I was still sampling at 2:00 am on the plane. What made it back to Arizona was quickly gobbled up by my husband who has a major sweet tooth. I was also given a jar of Vegemite, and I was all excited to get home and make a Vegemite sandwich like Men at Work sing about. Unfortunately, the crabby guy at customs wouldn't let me keep it. Evidently, he thought I was going to feed it to everyone on the return flight, or he was out at home. Either way, I had to surrender it with a pair of scissors. Now <u>that</u> really irritated me. Thank goodness they weren't my favorite pair of Dovo's, or you'd have seen my tantrum on the news. Thanks again, my Aussie girls!</div>

One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to check out the neighborhoods and houses. We stopped in Akaroa, NZ, and found it to be totally charming. I loved these cottages with the tin roofs.<br />

This one, complete with the picket fence was my favorite. I wasn't sure if the 1876 on the sign was the house number, or age of the original house. It was probably the house number.<br />

It was beautifully served, but still I wondered to myself how bad it could be. Maybe it was the wine that gave me the courage to give it a go. It wasn't THAT bad. They say it tastes like chicken, but I'm not so sure. It was chewy, so I just swallowed my little piece, and washed it down with more wine. At least I can say I tried it, which is more than one person in our group can say. Right, Kelly?</div>

My sisters camera had a better zoom than mine did, so she shared her photos. I could see the little dots (sheep), but couldn't get good pics of them. I was told by a local that the sheep population is way down from what it used to be. I still like any place that has more sheep than people. </div>

G'day mates! It's been a week since I returned from New Zealand and Australia. It seems like only yesterday that we started planning it, and now it's over. I think we would all agree that it was a wonderful time, well worth the two grueling travel days that included more than thirty hours combined in air time. I wasn't sure if I would survive the 14 hour straight flights, but watching several movies, the occasional cat nap, and a few glasses of wine helped. I have so many photos to share, so I'll do it in several posts. Here we are at the very top of our ship, the Celebrity Solstice. We flew from LA to Auckland, and met up with our two week home on the Pacific and Indian Oceans, plus the Tasman Sea. Yes, that is a grass lawn at the top deck of the ship. Lawn games took place there, along with a glass blowing exhibit. In this photo, we were all a bit frazzled, sleepy, and a bit grumpy (me), but still looking forward to the adventure ahead.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
If you look to the right of the big X, and about halfway up from the middle tender boat, you can see our balcony. We were anchored off the Bay of Islands, NZ here. Our rooms were fab. We had a little sitting area to stitch, of course. I got quite used to having breakfast delivered, not to mention the chocolates on my turned down bed. Even though we were a day ahead with the time difference, we watched all the football playoff games. My friend, Patti below is a die hard 49'er fan. I'm sure they could hear her yelling all over the ship.<br />

Beautiful Bay of Islands. I've never seen so many boats in one place. The crystal blue water often matched the sky. The sea water did nothing for my hair, however!<br />

This photo needs no explanation. It was the first happy hour on the ship. We played musical trivia every afternoon in the lounge. We did so well, and ended up getting first place several times. It will be one of my favorite memories.<br />

Greetings on a gloomy, overcast day from AZ. I love these days. We feel like we're experiencing fall weather like the rest of the country, but it will be 77 degrees this afternoon, so maybe not so much. </div>

First of, I'd like to show you a new design called, Sleigh Rides and Snowflakes. I stitched the model on 40ct, vintage Pearled Barley from Lakeside. I need to <u>stress</u> that my fabric was very grey, it does not have as much pink as the norm. I have the luxury of being able to see linen in person, but I realize that not everyone does, and dye lots are often not the same. I would suggest that if you can't find similar Pearled Barley, a natural linen would work great. Threads needed are all from The Gentle Art: Dried Thyme, Forest Glade, Country Redwood, Wood smoke, Tin Bucket, Chalk, Picnic Basket, Wood Trail, Deep Forest, and Espresso Bean. </div>

Please let this proud grandma brag a little about granddaughter, Quinn. Over the weekend, she became the AZ state champion on bars for Level 2, Child D Group. She also took 2nd place on beam and vault, and 4th on floor. In the All-Around, she took 2nd place. The team is the Level 2 state champions. Way to go, girls!<br />

<span style="color: #ea9999;"> Here is the one to show. Ann Topley 1802 is heading to shops. The antique was stitched on a coarse natural linen, but I thought it would be fun to do something different, so I went with 36ct. Double Dyed Black Forest from Lakeside. I kept the thread colors true to the original, but opted to use sampler threads from The Gentle Art. I love, love, love how the colors stand out. The stitch count is 122 X 181, and the GAST's needed are: Claret, Old Brick, Terra Cotta, Pebble, Soot, Old Red Paint, Sarsaparilla, Chamomile, Pomegranate, Mustard Seed, Old Hickory, Roasted Marshmallow, and Picnic Basket. It is all over two with the exception of the word sin, which is over one. An eyelet stitch over four is used for a row of letters and the checkered band below that.</span><br />

It's hard to believe that we are into October already. The weather is slowly turning cooler with a nip in the morning air, and sunny beautiful days. We have uncovered the patio furniture, spruced up the yard, and started planning what to plant in the way of flowers. I hope to enjoy many hours stitching outside. Like my title says, I have snippets to show. I have many things in progress. Most of my focus has centered around charting lately. Mary Ann Ibbotson is about 1/2 way done. I appreciate the emails of encouragement and enthusiasm for her. I especially get a kick out of a certain couple of gals who make me laugh with their tag teaming me. I had to step away from her for a bit. I was getting frustrated, so I tackled three others. One has TWO red houses, and is really spectacularly pretty. We got away for a long weekend last week in the RV, and maybe it was the mountain air or smell of pines, because I got a lot done. In between that, I get a little more accomplished on things like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoBRh7-x29qci33yNHqXjcr76rtiLfrNJ0In5va4KLdUx9yFIK_J3vLnrBgi7j_kMPHqX1TY0kXZFfi2oJtIBWtfK5cqIv94bzG2l9LmzwPKGIz8lD3rcXq8zNlJ-EK6QIx1mzApDbG-QH/s1600/IMG_0814.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoBRh7-x29qci33yNHqXjcr76rtiLfrNJ0In5va4KLdUx9yFIK_J3vLnrBgi7j_kMPHqX1TY0kXZFfi2oJtIBWtfK5cqIv94bzG2l9LmzwPKGIz8lD3rcXq8zNlJ-EK6QIx1mzApDbG-QH/s400/IMG_0814.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Ellennor Whitehouse is from the latest SANQ. The antique belongs to Vickie of Needle Work Press, and is on display at the Attic. I'm using the 50 something count in Meadow Rue and Tudor Silks. It's a bit of a challenge, but I love the look and size. My eyes do get tired, but I will feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish it. The motifs I love doing, it's the lettering that gets to me, but I feel that way with any count. The Tudor Silks are wonderful.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj13pvKY7q9LLff5Y5hzcalE8xQkJxm25Mqgb8RS6_t9USj0mayJE7gV2eqyMxCWKbVoWPFtzDk5F6f9GoTwNz0k_CGZwc5bgc5jEhlkLnOiJJro1VMqKmvm_psCbTqpzHl9snUx5qqGzAE/s1600/IMG_0815.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj13pvKY7q9LLff5Y5hzcalE8xQkJxm25Mqgb8RS6_t9USj0mayJE7gV2eqyMxCWKbVoWPFtzDk5F6f9GoTwNz0k_CGZwc5bgc5jEhlkLnOiJJro1VMqKmvm_psCbTqpzHl9snUx5qqGzAE/s400/IMG_0815.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Charlotte Clayton. Oh, how I love this sampler! Mine is on 45ct. Buttercream. The folk artiness of it just screams "stitch me!". I don't have much free time to stitch for myself these days, so I'm slowly working my way through those <u>must stitch</u> samplers on my list.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6rMa6LlOJpFi4c6FexZy_rBGu__DjB66_CevcNss56wcTrnAQcZ6RdtE4AO87pX2-eNhKXCltQvMo8NTJDiOm4zpXMqxLUKq78nbiZEFzpm-pIfn0txuQirebIbinfB6tAfJFsXlcC5p-/s1600/IMG_0811.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6rMa6LlOJpFi4c6FexZy_rBGu__DjB66_CevcNss56wcTrnAQcZ6RdtE4AO87pX2-eNhKXCltQvMo8NTJDiOm4zpXMqxLUKq78nbiZEFzpm-pIfn0txuQirebIbinfB6tAfJFsXlcC5p-/s400/IMG_0811.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Lastly, here is my start on an upcoming release. I can here the hissing about the black linen from here, but I am using 36ct. As I was charting her, and choosing colors, I kept thinking how the colors would "pop' on a darker color. It is such a primitive sampler with fun motifs. The antique is dated 1802, and I would guess that Ann was a very young girl when she stitched it. She chose bright colors and quirky motifs, but the simple verse, <em>Love God And Hate Sin</em> is profound nonetheless.<br />
<br />
Until next time...The Scarlett Househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14851866596985841115noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1040794037992350064.post-48491086448775233172013-09-13T16:51:00.000-07:002013-09-13T16:51:25.655-07:00It must be Friday the 13th,because you're hearing from me again so soon. Here is my second release for this month. Her name is Mary Ann Louisa Boston. Yes, there has been a lot of Mary Ann's lately, and still another Mary Ann is about to get charted. It must have been a very popular name back then. I don't usually buy antique samplers like this, but I couldn't resist the little motifs at the bottom, especially the tiny dogs. They are about 1/4 an inch stitched on the 40ct. Legacy linen from Picture This Plus that I used. It is charted for Needlepoint Silks and a conversion to DMC is provided. There is a fair amount of over one on it, sorry. Please don't hate me! It's Mary Ann Louisa's fault.<br />

Obviously, our heat gets old after several months of 100 plus degrees, but I just love all things about this season. I can't wait to uncover the patio wicker and enjoy my morning coffee outside. I like putting out a few decorations, and spent some time today doing just that. So, even though the calendar and weather tell me that fall is still around the corner, I'm jumping the gun. Here's a few photos:<br />

If you've visited my blog in the past, much of this will be old news. I pretty much stick with the same old stuff that I like. I get a kick out of all the glittery pumpkins in odd colors, they are fun to look at in the stores, but not for me. Each year I find myself simplifying, which means more natural things like gourds and bittersweet. </div>

I have been experimenting a little with moving some samplers around. I know someone will be curious about the large one in the center. It is an antique. Ellen Strick was her name, and she stitched her sampler in 1849 when she was 9. It will be reproduced at some point.</div>

Last year I finally got around to finishing Halloween Queen from Notforgotten Farm. I just love her! This year, I found the black and white checked pumpkin at Home Goods. I'd like to make some velvet ones just like it. Maybe next year...</div>

This is a new design that will be ready to ship later in the week. It's called Button Eyed Cat. I used 40ct. Cedar Plank from Lakeside, and Tomato, Raven, Oatmeal, and Gold Leaf sampler threads from The Gentle Art. The orange border is rice stitched over four, but can be done in cross. I wanted buttons for the eyes, but they are also charted to look like buttons if you'd rather stitch them. For the fob, I used black rick rack, and sewed a button on the back for a simple finish. </div>

Hello, I would have posted these photos from The Attic's Summer School Soiree much sooner, but we immediately left for a trip to the Midwest right after. If you're interested in seeing photos from the trip, you can find them on my other blog,<a href="http://roadtripwithruby.blogspot.com/"> <span style="color: #cc0000;">Road Trip With Ruby</span>.</a> We had a wonderful time at the soiree, and if you weren't there, you should have been. I got very little sleep and felt like a walking zombie afterwards, but the time spent with everyone enjoying what we love was well worth it. Who wants to sleep when you can be inspired by all of this:</div>

You can see a couple of the soiree projects including Linda's from Samplers Remembered. The antique sampler is to the right. I can't wait to get started on mine. We had fun making the scissor fobs and boxes for the pincushion in class. <br />

I thought I'd show you one of my finds from antiquing. I have searched high and low for a real antique spool cabinet that wouldn't break the bank. Well, I finally found the perfect one. I spotted it right away and stood with my arm around it until the dealer arrived. It is in really nice original condition and the back is what I love the most. It sits next to my stitching chair.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Other than the cabinet, I only bought a few other things. I did see a few samplers, but nothing came home with me. I had to have the mouse on the canning jar. He or she is supposed to be the "keeper of the buttons" according to the tag on it. I have plenty of buttons that need a keeper!</div>

I worked on this while away. The design is from Primitive Hare's Primitive Atmosphere's booklet. Remember me telling you about the 50ct. linen that I was anxious to try? That's what I used for the pin cushion. It measures about 2 3/4 x 2in. and is so cute and tiny. I tea stained it and added the pinned buttons. Behind that is my start on the Ellennor Whitehouse Sampler from the current issue of SANQ. I'm using 50ct. Meadow Rue and Tudor Silks. The linen isn't as difficult to see as you would think. I love it! </div>

Oops, I almost forgot. One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to Picture This Plus in Kansas. I love their linen, and it was wonderful to meet Marilyn and get a tour. My husband had to drag me out of there. Be back soon with a new release to show you.The Scarlett Househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14851866596985841115noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1040794037992350064.post-24239383653822886112013-07-29T09:51:00.002-07:002013-07-29T09:51:35.710-07:00A quick post...to let you know that my second release for this month is now available. You might remember that this was my project from last year's Sampler Soiree at The Attic. It's called <em><span style="color: #e06666;">A Sampler Grows</span></em>. Legacy linen (40ct.) from Picture This Plus was used with NPI's: 183, 184, 184A, 208, 224, 242, 245, 321, 694, 976, 986, & 992. Conversion to DMC is provided with the chart. The majority of stitching is over two, but the verse is over one, as are several motifs. The checkered lawn is done with the easy peasy rice stitch, but could be done in cross. The garden trowel is from By Jupiter. The 3/4 inch Wild Berries rick rack trim is available from Crescent Colours. The chenille may be available as well. I actually dyed what is shown for the kits last year. The scissor cases were my gift to the attendees. I have three left so.......... I will be doing a giveaway on my Scarlett House<span style="color: #cc0000;"> <u><a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Scarlett-House/345622425453853">Facebook</a></u></span> page for this design sometime this week. Check out my page and watch for it!<br />

This is a snippet of a sampler that will be coming soon. Lovely shades of taupe and teal. After this finish, I am taking a much needed break, and will stitch something for myself. I plan to work on Charlotte Clayton while we are on our upcoming vacation. I also snagged a piece of the new 50+ uneven linen that is now available. I can't wait to try it. Everyone who has tried it says that it's not difficult. I'll let you know...</div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Where or where does the time go to? My good intention is to update this blog regularly, and I'm failing miserably. I could blame it on a number of excuses, like I'm busy designing, reproducing, stitching, and so on. I could blame it on the heat, and the fact that I seek refuge in the pool frequently. My hope is that you will be happy to hear from me, irregardless of the time in between posts.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Say hello to Mary Ann Farmer. I have been secretly calling her the "summer sampler". The colors remind me of all things in that particular season, and is in fact dated August 27th, 1834. You all know I am a fan of red, and I thought these colors would bore me to tears. Quite the opposite happened, it was a very soothing stitch. My fabric of choice for this one is 40ct. Doubloon from Picture This Plus. It has the perfect mellow yellow tone. NPI silks were also used, and the stitch count is 259 x 193. I hope you like her. Charts will be ready within the next two weeks.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I have also been getting my kits ready for the Summer School Soiree at The Attic. The inspiration for my project is a one room school house that I drove past in northern Idaho many years ago. It was grey stone with dark red paned windows, and I was in love at first sight. I'm looking forward to the event, and if you are coming...can't wait to see you there.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">After that, we will be heading to the Midwest to see family, antique shop, and eat the foods that we miss from there. I'm excited because we will be taking the motor home for the first time. I have visions of all the nooks and crannies that I can pack (hide) my shopping finds. </span><br />

</div>
Happy Mother's Day! I have a new release to share. It's called <em><span style="color: #e69138;">She Feeds Them Well</span></em>. I confess to being a bird fanatic, and as I type this, there are two starlings splashing in the bird bath right outside my window. I never get tired of watching their antics. We have several feeders in the yard, which need constant attention. I particularly enjoy the little yellow finches, but no bird goes away hungry. My sister is even more obsessed with attracting them to her yard, so I designed this for her. I used the new Cedar Plank from Lakeside (which I LOVE!), and Sampler Threads from The Gentle Art. Colors needed are: Forest Glade, Tarnished Gold, Apricot Blush, Soot, Garden Gate, Harvest Basket, Chamomile, Buttermilk, Pomegranate, Tin Bucket, Weathered Barn, Mustard Seed, Old Hickory, Pumpkin Pie, Picnic Basket, Piney Woods, and Espresso Bean. Stitch count is 127w x 130h. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had to include a duck on the sampler in honor of these two. They practically live in our front yard. I suspect they have a nest on the golf course, but show up daily for the cracked corn I throw their way. It's a real zoo around here at times. A rabbit lives under the rosemary bush and is often seen beside the ducks, along with a dozen of gambel's quail, and the occasional road runner.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And totally unrelated are the two big jars of buttons. It was late one night and I was browsing EBay when I came upon the auction for 12lbs of buttons. There was only 14 minutes until the end of it, and I was curious enough to bid. I love vintage buttons, but I think I was even more intrigued to see just how many made 12lbs worth. I found these big Ball replica jars at Hobby Lobby, which perfectly hold most of them. I have no idea what I will do with them all, but it's safe to guess that a future design will include a few. </div>

Good morning! I thought I'd share an updated photo of <em><span style="color: #76a5af;">Good Company</span></em>. Here are the particulars:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
40ct vintage Pear from Lakeside Linen</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Stitch count: 271w X 131h</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Belle Soie Silks: Mudpie, Attic Tea, Noir, Berry Cobbler, Cobblestone, Limestone, Wheatgrass,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Weathered vine, Sister Scarlet, Icing, Mer Bleu, Moss, Espresso, Enchanted Forest, Tortoise Shell;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Angel Blush, and Puritan Blue.</div>
<br />
I actually used Malted Milk in the model, but I just learned that it is no longer available. Angel Blush will work in it's place. Conversions to DMC and cotton over dyes included. Charts will ship this week.<br />
<br />
To answer the question about the sampler rug. I found it online at Sturbridge Yankee Workshop.<br />

Hello everyone! I think I'll show you the new first. Here's a sampler that you can actually walk on. I had a birthday last month, so I treated myself to this rug for the craft room. Ruby likes it, too. Now to get the slipcovers on the loveseat replaced! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a new design called <em>Good Company</em>, that I will be releasing in the next week or two. I still need to get it framed. The verse came to me on one of my morning walks, and then the idea for the design followed. In a perfect world, you would find me living in a house overlooking the sea. This is a sampler that I wanted to stitch for myself, but I hope you like it, too. I used 40ct. vintage Pear from Lakeside and Belle Soie Silks. A conversion to DMC and cotton over dyes will be provided. Stitch count is 271w X 131h.</div>

This weekend we took the motor home up to one of our lakes, and I brought along some old friends to work on. How many years have I been working on the Prairie Schooler alphabet? Two, I think... I finally finished the Y block, and now I'm inspired to do more. I'm using DMC on 32ct something, and stitching it over one. I may be 100 years old before I finish it, but finish it I will!<br />

Lastly, here's the really old...ME! This was taken at my birthday get together last month. My little munchkins took time to pose with Grandma.</div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Greetings! I know, I know, I'm long overdue with posting AGAIN, but my needle has kept me very busy. I was determined to put the first stitches in Rachel on New year's Eve. It took me three needles and forty nine days to stitch her. I'm pleased to present Rachel Howells 1856. </span></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9a6_EnsaD6xVl8Oj1Z01y5PzaFy81E5LZzAKaiueen-tq2l0R1Sy-bu8Rpql4WYv_XsG59bfMfd72AkB9qEx-YpocDP7Uc9NJnh5Ei5EnW1SJ5REyE8WfQyLlihybM7S1djCfA4tiJpUJ/s1600/IMG_0546a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="351" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9a6_EnsaD6xVl8Oj1Z01y5PzaFy81E5LZzAKaiueen-tq2l0R1Sy-bu8Rpql4WYv_XsG59bfMfd72AkB9qEx-YpocDP7Uc9NJnh5Ei5EnW1SJ5REyE8WfQyLlihybM7S1djCfA4tiJpUJ/s400/IMG_0546a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I need to point out that not all of the border flowers are exact. You will need to pay attention. I charted her exactly as Rachel stitched her. I used 40ct. Legacy from Picture This Plus and NPI. Stitch count is 319 x 280. Thread colors needed are: 292, 301, 313 (2), 316, 325, 502 (2), 622, 746, 761,851, 852, 993, & 991BB. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Now I'm off to print charts if my printer holds up. It started spitting and sputtering on the first batch. Wish me luck.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana;">On a personal note, I attended granddaughter Quinn's gymnastic meet this morning. Her team took 1st place! I'm very proud of her. </span></div>

Greetings from the frozen tundra. We are experiencing some unusually cold weather here in the valley of the (not so much) sun. I know I am a major wuss, but 20+ degrees is out of my comfort zone. I miss my flip-flops, darn it! The plants are all hiding under any towel, blanket, or sheet we can round up. I miss my geraniums, darn it! I think normal temps are supposed to return by this weekend. I sure hope so, I miss my patio time, darn it! In the meantime, I am hunkering down by the fake fireplace with my next release. You may have seen the antique Rachel Howells on the Internet. I think she has been making the rounds. I purchased the antique from a shop in Wisconsin early last year. I'm not exaggerating when I say my heart skipped a beat when I saw her. I've never purchased anything so fast in my life. </div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have recently learned from <a href="http://welshfolkartsamplers.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Mary</span></a> that the sampler is Welsh. Like Mary says, the original is not finely worked, but stitched with wool on canvas. I'm not sure if that disqualifies her from being a sampler or not, but there is no denying that she is truly lovely. I am using NPI silk and Legacy linen from Picture This Plus. If my fingers don't freeze off, look for the chart release in early March.</div>

In other news, I have done something TOTALLY crazy but exciting. I have signed up for a trip to Australia and New Zealand. I will be going with my sister, niece, and friend. I have dreamed of going there forever, so it will be a trip of a lifetime. Not looking forward to the thirteen hour flight though. I wonder how much stitching I can get done on the plane? It's not for several months, but I'm already getting nervous and thinking about what projects to take. G'day everyone!</div>

Greetings from not so warm and not so sunny Arizona. It's currently 58 degrees, and the dogs and I are all gathered around the heater in the craft room today. This will be my last release for 2012. It's called <em>Queen of quite a lot</em>. The pin pillow measures 111w X 66h, and was stitched on 40ct. Legacy from Colorscapes Picture This Plus using NPI silk. Threads needed are: 993, 414, 823, 448, 104, & 474 or DMC (conversion provided on chart) 310, 699, 797, 817, 3837, & 3852<br />
<br />
The small pre-made tassels were found at JoAnn's. The crown pins, I made. I'm fairly certain I found the charms at Hobby Lobby. I've had them awhile. Anyway, I simply glued on to dressmaker pins. Any jeweled pins would be cute. Charts are being shipped this week. <br />
<br />
As the year comes to a close, I want to sincerely thank you for your support, kind words, and enthusiasm for my designs this past year and a half. I feel so blessed to be able to do this as my "job"!<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I know (because I hear the hints and outright demands, lol) that some of you are looking forward to the Rachel Howells sampler. She is up first in 2013.</div>

Our vet had an open house this weekend. I couldn't resist taking these three to see Santa. Poor little Scarlett was having none of it. I couldn't get her to sit any closer for anything. I wonder what they asked for?</div>

I've had a change of mind about one of the NPI to DMC conversion colors. Originally, I thought 739 was a good subsitute for NPI 761. After thinking about it, 3864 would be better, 739 is just a tad too light. It's not always easy getting an exact match, but I do try. I'm not sure why I went with that color, maybe my lighting was bad on charting day. So, if you are planning to use DMC, please make a note. The chart calls for 739. If you're using silks, or your own conversion, there's no problem.<br />

Charts have been finalized and are ready to ship. I tried to think of a clever title, but for lack of anything better, it's simply Adam and Eve. The linen is 40ct. vintage Lt. Examplar from Lakeside. NPI's needed are: 225 (need 2 skeins), 529, 952, 761, 749, & 584.<br />

Can Christmas really be upon us? I've just barely dried dishes from our Thanksgiving feast. Well, time marches on, and it's time to decorate for the holidays. I keep it simple. We aren't blessed with a lot of storage, so less is more when putting it all away.</div>

It seems like each new post starts with an apology for so long in between, but here I go again. I seem to have less and less time these days. I also took a trip to Myrtle Beach for the Pals retreat. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Thank goodness there was no one named Sandy blowing up the coast. This was my preferred outfit for my daily walks, and I was in heaven. It was wonderful to see so many old friends, and meet new ones. Here I am with Isabella from <a href="http://theprimitivehare.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: #bf9000;">The Primitive Hare</span></a>. This is what's up for the next release. It's a sweet little A&E done mostly in red and green. I'm going to consider my version as an adaption, instead of a reproduction. There are some things that simply have to be changed a bit, like a totally wonky alphabet. </div>

And here's to my second apology. The Camo Fudge that I used for Christmastide at Holly House was a golden brown with a hint of green color. My piece wasn't from years gone by. I know that there has been an issue with the Camo Fudge recently with it being much greener and darker. According to Naomi at Stitches & Spice, it has something to do with the fact that it was dyed during a cold and wet period down under. Obviously, I'm sure that you understand that it is out of my control, but I am sorry that it is so different in color. My dear friend, Sandy had the idea to finish one into a wrap for a cookie jar. Isn't that too cute and clever? Sorry, directions for finishing the jar wrap are not included in with the chart, but it does show you the possibilities. </div>

And here is my most precious new! Granddaughter Remy Le was born on Sept. 7th. She is the cutest little chunk. I have joked that I want to paint her face orange, put a stem on top of her head, and call her Pumpkin! <br />
<br />
The good new(s) is that I have one more session of physical therapy, and I am finished!! I'm not 100% back to normal, but the progress since the manipulation has been enormous. The scar on my arm isn't pretty, but it's mostly pain-free. Now, I am looking forward to some cooler weather, stitching on the patio, and the PALS retreat in Myrtle Beach in Oct. <br />
<br />
Happy stitching!<br />
