It's all about samplers

Harriet Burry is addictive. She's hard to put down. I am so surprised that I'm not bored with this sampler yet...you know, the big border, few color changes, lots of repetition. My photos pale in comparison with the real deal. She will be a beauty.

The A&E is only slightly more than half a sampler. I managed to add a couple more birds and a bit more of the border. I still plan to give the chart away, if I ever finish the piece, that is.

I ordered this red ware plate a couple of weeks ago. I copied the idea from my good friend, Siobhan, who has one. I felt a little guilty about borrowing her idea until she told me that she borrowed the idea from another good friend of ours, Carol. I happen to know that another good friend, ummm, Margaret has ordered one. The cycle never ends. It just came yesterday, and I love it. The funny thing is that my husband hasn't even noticed it yet. He is sick to death of the word sampler. It's everywhere in our house and on my car, lol. He finally said "what if I want to drive your car and they think I stitch samplers?" Remember my license plate? Oh, well....
I went through some more stash, and I've put together another list of stuff to offer for sale. One of the ones that I'm parting with is A Most Noble Pursuit which was a collaboration from several fabulous designers. It was a limited edition. I know I probably won't be stitching it, too many others calling my name louder. If you are interested in my list, EMAIL me. Please don't leave me a comment to be included. The list will go out on Saturday. Same as before, I'll accept PayPal as payment.
Lastly, I've been "encouraged" by Vickie to do a Christmas needlework set. I have an idea for one, so look for that in the near future. I'll be taking orders if anyone is interested.

It IS all about samplers! The meaning of life--we're so lucky we found it! As for your husband, if anyone asks him about the samplers he can say "cheese samplers" or "tequila samplers," except that your license plate does say "I'd rather be stitching," doesn't it? Harriet Burry is incredible. Mind you, I like the A&E also, but Harriet is extra special.

Hmmm. I've been thinking of ordering a plate....

Your husband sounds so much like mine. My husband is not a fan of samplers at all. He things their dark! I'm still scratching my head as to how I married this guy!

You know, you always pick the best samplers to stitch. I always love coming to see how far you've gotten on them. Both of these are wonderful!

And I now have to have one of those plates for my craft room too. I've admired Siobhan's for a long time. I might as well jump on the bandwagon and order one!

Harriet is beautiful Tanya! I'm loving watching your progress on this one. Your A&E is so pretty too. I love the colors you chose for it. I also love your plate! It's perfect! I hope you enjoy it. My dh's eyes glaze over whenever I talk about stitching, so I can relate. :)

Wow, Harriet is really coming along Tanya. She looks fabulous. The A&E is sweet too. Love the plate... I also have a Laurie's Samplers... but mine is the hanging circular plaque rather than the plate. I have it hanging on one of the kitchen doors. I'd like another hanging plaque for my sun porch with Corgi Cottage.
I'm also considering getting one of Ginger's redware rabbits. It's contagious. lol

Oh, everything looks so wonderful! Love your redware plate. I'll be curious to hear how long it takes till your DH does notice it. LOL!

Oh wow Tanya, both of your samplers look great!! Harriet is beautiful but you know I'm partial to the A&E. ;) Love the plate!! I love how you have it displayed, too. LOL at your husband's comment about the samplers. I wanted to name our house Sampler House but my DH thought that would cause too many people to think that it was a sample house. HUH?? I like Blue Hen Hollow but had wanted something more to do with stitching. I suppose, though, that I'm just lucky the house didn't end up being called the 19th Hole or something else golf-related! ;)

Harriet is fabulous. I LOVE the border. Great progress on both Tanya. I finished the frogs last night so my DH said, FINALLY I have my wife back, and he has only been back 6 days and I hardly stitched during that time. Men are a bit jealous of our stitching or maybe its envy. DH did say he admires my patience and it stops me from bitching. : )) Next time he complains that I stitch and not sit and watch television with him I can tell him "You want me to bitch or not!". The plate is lovely.

Visiting you is always a pleasure - you have such a great eye for choosing samplers to work on and then pairing them with the perfect fabric and thread combination!

Harriet is just beautiful and I do love that A&E.

Ok, I need a plate - a plate with my name on it! I can just see my husband rolling his blue eyes and shaking his head.

I like Siobhan and Laurie's idea of naming a house. Ours is over a hundred years old and deserves a name - hmmmm, I'll have to give that some thought.

I look forward to seeing your latest painted pieces - a Christmas Set sounds wonderful.

Enjoy your weekend!

Oh wow! I love both pieces, but especially Harriet! Copycat time! lol! I think you're safe for now though -- I seem to be in A&E land at the moment. So many I want to do! I can't wait for my plate to arrive. :D That's so funny what your DH said about driving your car.

I don't know what it is about Harriet, Tanya. I absolutely love everything about it. The gate always makes me think of The Secret Garden, imagining what lies beyond. And your A&E ... beautiful as well. I'm enjoying watching your progress on both these wonderful samplers!

I am also in love with Harriet - I need to look up that issue of SANQ - who knows where it is - probably still at my old house in a mountain of magazines I need to go thru. The redware plates are awesome but I sure don't need to start collecting redware LOL Mel

Hi Tanya,
Oh my Harriet is looking so beautiful, I know why you are enjoying working on her. I fell in love with her as soon as I got my copy of the mag.
Your A&E is looking wonderful as well. I agree with the other comments that you chose the most amazing samplers to do.
Love your plate, looks like you and Siobhan have started something lol.
My DH is of the non observant type as well, although he sometimes surprises me by observing things when I don't particularly want him to. Isn't that the way. - Sandra.
