If you love A&E's...

You might like this upcoming reproduction of mine.  Mary Ann Ibbotson was 11 years old when she stitched her sampler in 1842.  I bought her last year, and she has been holding court in our bedroom since.  The tree is one of the prettiest I've ever seen on A&E's, and I love Adam holding the butterfly.
She's a large sampler, with many motifs, and that wonderful row of animals.  The colors are very muted, and I'm tempted to brighten it up.  I'd love to throw some red in there in place of the pale pink.  What do you think?  I struggle with each reproduction when it comes to either sticking with the original colors, or choosing my own.  As far as dilemmas go...it's not a bad one to have.

Tomorrow will be four weeks since my surgery.  Each day continues to be a bit better.  I was reminded today at physical therapy that the healing process takes about a year.  They are pushing me in therapy, so I'm hoping to be back to normal sooner.  At least I can stitch.

Soooo exciting! The tree on this one is magnificent and I really do love Adam holding the butterfly. Can't wait!

Well, you know I love A&E's and this one looks like a beauty. I think a little bit of red would look nice since the sampler is so muted. I'm sure Mary Ann wouldn't mind!!

Hope that your shoulder is feeling better every day. I know that it takes a while to recover from that (my husband had it done to both shoulders and it did take a while).

Oh Tanya, she really is gorgeous! I can't wait for this one. The motifs are so wonderful -- I hadn't even noticed Adam with the butterfly. I say go for the red. :D Who knows, maybe it was originally red, might have faded, right?

You know I love A&Es so I'm thrilled this one is next to be charted. I also love red... so I say go for it!
I hope your PT will help you heal as fast as possible... but remember, a year is nothing if it means a pain free shoulder for the rest of your life.

What a gorgeous sampler! I say, add the red - you just can't go wrong with red in a sampler, IMHO!
Can't wait for this one to come out.
I'm so glad to hear your shoulder is doing well. PT can be such a pain, literally!

Yes...brighten it up. Love color! Feel better soon and glad you are back to stitching!

This is such a neat A&E, Tanya. I am so looking forward to this one. I vote for red and brightening colors.

I am glad that PT is going well, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that you will be at least 90% soon ( I want to say 100%, but I think that may take a little bit)

Glad to hear that you are on the mend even if it feels it it will take a long time!

The new A&E looks fabulous! I am so glad you will be reproducing her! I vote for some red! (You know how many fans of red are out there!)

I love red in a sampler. I'm watching your recovery very closely. I am having carpel tunnel done next week but there is definitely something going on with my shoulder. I love to stitch so I do worry about long recovery time. I'm so encouraged that you can stitch!!

Wow, Tanya, I love this one. It is really lovely. I am so glad that you are going to reproduce this one. I also vote for the red. I don't think Mary Ann will be tapping you on the shoulder lol. I am sure that she would be proud to think you are going to bring her back to life.

So glad that things are going so well for you after your op. It is amazing that you are stitching again so soon. - Sandra.

I love trees in samplers and I think the same as you, this is the loveliest A & E tree I've ever seen.
Please don't overdo with your therapy. Us sampler lovers would hate for you to have a relapse. We then would have to wait longer for Mary Ann. JoAnn

Here's wishing you a speedy recover!
Love the new sampler. I would say pick your own colors. You have such great taste, and personally the muted colors on this sampler don't really grab me. Good luck with your decision.

What do I know? Certainly with your talent, the choice will be the right one. But my husband says I know everything so I might as well give an opinion. Stitch the colors you prefer, and also show a photo of the original. The stitcher can make the decision so you don't have to! Glad to hear you're seeing progress in your recovery.

This one is wonderful! I love the animals along the bottom - A&E samplers are interesting me more and more lately. Look forward to her debut.

Gorgeous sampler, Tanya. You are so right - it is a really pretty tree. Whether you add the red or not, it will be beautiful.

Glad you are still healing and can stitch!

Tanya, from what I see so far I love it, it has so many elements I like in a reproduction.

As for the colors.... I do prefer the muted tones, but maybe as one suggestion, put in a color key for both the muted colors and also for the brighter tones you prefer. Each stitcher will then have a choice. Just my 2 cents, and I've seen this done before.

Looking forward in seeing the finished sampler,

A truly beautiful sampler, I do wonder what the back looks like, are there brighter colors there? Any color you choose will be tops!!
Good luck with the therapy Tanya :))

How could you go wrong with a sampler that have all those wonderful sheep in it. Can't wait for the release.

oh, such a lovely A&E. I can't wait to see how you 'enhance' her. How about stitching her as you see her, then give an alternate colorway for those who like the muted effect?
Keep pushing and Be well!

Tanya, I see you have lots of A&E lovers posting here. I am joining them and love red! I think this is a gorgeous sampler from what you have shown us so I leave the color choice in your hands. You have the expertise so go for your gut feeling.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Take care...I am counting down the days till we meet! pam in iowa

Hi Tanya, I am a new follower, I came across from Vonna's blog. I love your stitching and your blog. I can see that I will be visiting you often to check out your A&E's. I hope that you are recovering well from your shoulder surgery? Is that what is it was?

Good to read that your recovery is going steady.
You are so right about the tree on Mary Ann's sampler. And now I'm very curious about how the whole sampler looks like.

Excited about this new sampler. I would like to see it in the orginal colors as much as possible. Give those of us that don't want the red put in a choice. Belong to 2 different quilds, some of us like reproducing as much as possible the way the orginal is. Sorry red lovers.
