Maria Tilley 1835

I'm excited to show you Maria in her beautiful frame. She was an absolute joy for me to stitch. I have to admit there were times when I questioned my sanity at choosing 45 ct. fabric, but I couldn't be more pleased with her. The chart is now available from NeedleWorkPress. Many, many thanks to Vickie for once again entrusting me with bringing another one of her girls to life. Maria is on display at The Attic, if you are in the Phoenix area and would like to see her.
I'm still stitching away on Country Life, but I'm getting closer to finishing it. I can't remember a sampler ever being so labor intensive as that one, but it is a beauty. I'll post a photo soon.

I saw a spool cabinet like this one on The Twisted Stitcher's blog awhile back. After a few emails with Vonna, I decided it would be perfect for holding my DMC thread. I thought it was time to replace the plastic storage boxes that have held those fibers for more than thirty years. The plastic trays fit perfectly in the drawers. This is a reproduction that I found on eBay, but it really looks old. I have looked forever for a real antique one, but they were either way too expensive, missing knobs, or the drawers were wonky and warped. The height makes it perfect for sitting next to my stitching chair. Thanks for convincing me, Vonna. I love it.

Maria is gorgeous, Tanya! Love the frame too! I have her all ordered already. :D Love your spool cabinet too -- I want to save up money for my own. It would be a great way to organize my threads. Maybe.

Love the thread cabinet too. I've wanted one forever. Thanks for the tip about eBay. I'll have to buzz over there and check it out.
I know I keep saying this, but I will hopefully be coming to AZ in a month or so. Can't wait to see your sampler in person at The Attic. Want to get together for lunch?

Maria is such a treasure, Tanya! You did a beautiful job and I hope to stitcher her some day in the not too far future.

I hope you post pictures after you get your DMC threads set up in your new cabinet. I'd love to see how you organize it. You'd never know it wasn't an antique!

Wowsie, that's a GORGEOUS finish! And I love your cabinet. I have my floss and silk in the plastic things and I just hate how they look.

Hi Tanya, Maria is simply stunning all done up in her frame. They really go together. She is such a beautiful sampler and you really did a wonderful job with her. I am sure that doing her on 45 ct was worth all of the trouble.
I love the way that Vicky puts her charts together.
Your chest of draws are lovely. Just what a sitching girl needs:) - Sandra.

Gorgeous job with Maria!! She is a great addition to all of our stash. The 45ct is fabulous, once you stitch on it a bit, it is easy, then going back to 40ct you really can see the difference. What is next? There is another sampler that was in that article which I am sure many of us would like to have (hint hint!) Love the spool chest, it is really something :)

Maria is stunning, congratulations on getting it finished. I love your thread chest, it doesn't look like a reproduction, would love to find something like that for storing my DMC.

Congratulations on your big finish and recent addition as well. I have seen antique cabinets like those and yes indeed they were very expensive. Hoping I can get down to The Attic while your sampler is on display.
