Half a sampler

Not much to show in the stitching dept. I am half way done, so I guess that's something. Yesterday, I sat in front of the TV, watching football and finished Caleb and Joshua who resemble a couple of Santa's elves. The verse in the upper corner is over one, and every word is a different color, so I'm taking my time with it. I confess to starting a new sampler. It's the 1827 Harriet Burry Sampler from the summer 2008 publication of Sampler & Antique Needlework. I could not resist...she just kept calling me over and over. It's another one with a whopper of a border, but a very pretty one. I'll post a picture soon. And of course, Sarah Woodham is waiting in the wings.
I'd like to say welcome to the blogging world, to my friend, Laurie. She is a fabulous stitcher, a dog lover, and "mom" to two Corgis. Stop by and visit her at Corgi Cottage.

Here's a few more pictures of fall decorations. I picked up the seeded pears on my recent trip. Someone spent a whole lot of time individually gluing those seeds on. I think they are just too cool.
On my last post, Terry asked about the little folk art birds by the bittersweet. I would love to tell you where they came from, but I have no idea. I know that I ordered them online from somewhere...sorry.

Love this witch riding a crow!

Thanks for the comments on my finds and new plate. As always, I love hearing from you.

I love how your A&E is looking! And I can't wait to see a progress pic of Harriet Burry! I love your fall decorations, and that witch and the plate behind the witch too. Speaking of redware. :D You have such wonderful taste. I think yours is another house I'd like to live in. Or at least visit. :D

The half of the sampler looks great so far. Funny that you think the Santa elves are visiting your sampler. They do kinda look like they're on a coffee break from the workshop!

I'm wondering about the new sampler you've started - can't wait to see photos!

Awesome halfway mark, I am really, really going to have to stitch this someday. You always have a way of enticing me, what you stitch, I want to. Now off to search for that 2008 Antique Needlework Monthly!! (^-^)

This sampler is growing on me, I admit. At first it did not knock me off my feet, but like a good book, the further you progress the more interesting it becomes. Now that you mention it, Caleb and Joshua curiously look like elves!!! Cute!!! I am so curious to see the Harriet Burry Sampler. I like your seeded pears. Great effect with the seeds glued on like that. A witch that rides a crow. Now that is halloween!!

I love that witch riding a crow, too. Very cute.

Caleb and Joshua do look kind of like little wood elves, but they are very cute! Love your progress on this sampler.

I saw them in concert several years ago, in fact, not sure where my concert tee is... need to look for it later! Wonderful blog!

Hi Tanya - I just found your blog today and so glad I did. I live in NE Phoenix so I'm waving at you. Your home is decorated just beautifully, and your stitching is gorgeous. I wish you'd come over and decorate my home LOL. I sure could use it. I picked up the Sarah Woodham pattern too - maybe will start it next year as I'm up to my neck right now in projects. I'll be keeping an eye out on the freeways for your special license plate - it's fantastic.
