I'm excited to show you my new release called "ORTS and ENDS". It's a stitched top for a 4x4 paper mache box that will hold all those little thread pieces that we stitchers like to collect. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who likes to watch my orts accumulate. They eventually get scattered in my back yard for the birds to use in their nests. In the meantime, I enjoy watching them multiply, for some odd reason. You get it, I know you do. Maybe it's our proof that we are accomplishing something.
I chose to simply paint the box, rough it up a bit with sandpaper, then apply a thin coat of antiquing. You can get much more creative by faux painting, sponging or graining the box. It would even be cute decoupaged with scrapbook paper. I chose a simple cording that I found at Hobby Lobby to wrap around the piece. Thank you once again to the very talented Vonna for her finishing. She has graciously provided a tutorial for you here.
The frame for Mary Roe 1808 is in, so as soon as I can get her framed and the charts finalized, she will be available. I've started another reproduction from my collection called Jane Hopkins 1801. After she is ready, I think I'll get back to some stitching for myself. While reorganizing my charts last weekend, I was reminded at how many things I want to stitch. Never enough hours in the day.
Here is my sweet granddaughter Rowan Elizabeth who turns one tomorrow. Isn't she pretty in pink?
Unfortunately, her birthday party has to be postponed until she and her siblings get over a virus.
Grandma loves you, baby girl!

Love the ORTs and Ends box. But then I love everything you put out. :D
Orts and Ends box is super cute! Vonna always does such a nice job stitching and finishing! This will be a definite 'must have' for me:))
Cute pic of your grandaughter! Hope she feels better soon.
How cute Tanya! You have such cleaver ideas. I was just at the Attic this weekend and saw all of your models. I bought Hannah with fabric and floss to get going on it. I am so glad you are designing. I will be buying this Ort box one for sure. Great job!
What a good idea to put our orts in. Mine are in a jam jar lol. Very tasteful. I am saving mine up to stuff a pillow or something with. Looking forward to seeing your next project. You pick the most beautiful samplers to chart.
Hope Rowan feels better soon. Lovely photo of her. I remember the photos of her when she was born with her very proud Grandmother. = Sandra.
Your grand daughter is sooo cute!!!! Happy birthday to the little one~ I hope she will recover soon!!
Love your box finish!!!! I'm one of those people who collect all my orts and my husband always think that was kind of odd... LOL!! Only a fellow stitcher know the fun of it~~
I love your new design. Like Theresa said before me, my husband doesn't understand why I collect my ORTs, but I do - there is something comforting about it.
Your granddaughter is adorable and I hope that everyone is better soon so that you can celebrate her birthday!

Rowan is adorable, I am so sorry that she is unwell on her birthday.
"Orts and Ends" is BRILLIANT.
Beautiful Tanya, looks so much better than a jar!!
Your GD looks very pretty, speedy recovery for her!!
Love the Orts and Ends box! I do love to see my orts multiply and I do think it gives me a sense of accomplishment to see them grow. We won't mention that sometimes they grow because I've had to rip out numerous times! And I can't wait for Mary Roe!!!! I am sure she is gorgeous in her new frame. Hope everyone is over their virus soon so that the birthday celebration can commence!
Very cute, Tanya! And a good idea!
How sweet is Rowan?! She looks adorable in her pink. I hope she's well enough to celebrate soon.

Linda
Your Orts and Ends box is adorable! Most of my threads end up on the floor to be piced up later. Maybe an ort box is just what I need.
Rowan is the prettiest, little thing! Love her in all her pink glory!
A pic to keep forever - divine!
Hugs - Lurline♥
